TCTA: Respecting Texas Teachers since 1927
Only $90 for new active members
Membership dues are only $90 for first-time active members, and $140 for subsequent years. For less than $12 a month, you can get the help you need, when you need it, and all of your dues dollars stay in Texas working for you and your colleagues.
TCTA membership includes:
Exclusivity
TCTA membership is limited to teachers, librarians, counselors, coaches, nurses, education aides, substitute teachers, and others who work directly with students. Administrators are not eligible for membership.
Eligibility requires direct involvement in the instruction of students and regular employment in a Texas public school or in a state-supported institution of higher learning in Texas.
Since TCTA does not accept administrators as members, you'll never have to worry that the association advising you in a proposed reduction-in-force is also advising your administrators about how to successfully eliminate jobs!
Nine Staff Attorneys
TCTA members have easy-access to 9 staff attorneys to help resolve your job-related legal situation and answer your questions. Our legal team is the most experienced group of school law experts in Texas.
TCTA also maintains a $250,000 Teacher Defense Fund to hire outside counsel when appropriate.
Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is the first line of defense for all Texas school employees.
Win or lose, your covered claim is paid with no out-of-pocket expense to you. It’s the strongest, most comprehensive policy available to Texas teachers and also includes $2 million for civil rights coverage.
FREE Continuing Education
TCTA provides FREE online CPE hours to our members. Over 40 hours of SBEC-approved continuing professional education courses are available through our website, to access at your convenience.
Top-ranked education lobby team
TCTA employs a team of professional teacher advocates who are well respected and recognized for their knowledge and tact, providing the teacher perspective at TRS, TEA, SBEC, SBOE, the Texas Legislature. As a member of TCTA, one of your peers will be serving on the TRS Board of Trustees, SBEC, and (the new advisory board).
TCTA regrets that we are unable to provide legal services for issues arising prior to the effective date of membership. Your membership and professional liability insurance coverage become effective when your completed membership application and full payment, or a signed payroll deduction authorization and required payments are received at TCTA headquarters.
