No vote on deregulation and finance bills expected this week
The two major finance bills (SB 1, containing school finance provisions, and SB 2) and the omnibus education deregulation bill (SB 8) appear unlikely to be taken up by either chamber of the Legislature this week. With a 24-hour layout rule, meaning that the conference committee reports (which set out the final negotiated provisions of the bill) must be printed and distributed to House members 24 hours before the bill is eligible for a vote, it appears unlikely that there will be enough time this week for the bills to be scheduled to be heard on the floor. There have been some indications that SB 1 and SB 8 will be brought before both the House and Senate on Monday, June 27, 2011. TCTA will, of course, keep you informed of any developments.
