USDE tool kit for teaching students with disabilities
The U.S. Department of Education (USDE) offers a set of tools to help states fully implement the accountability provisions of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) for students with disabilities.
A collaborative effort of two USDE departments, the "Tool Kit on Teaching and Assessing Students with Disabilities" provides up-to-date guidance on assessing the achievement and progress of students with disabilities. It also includes a set of technical assistance products that offer practical, research-based approaches to the challenges schools are facing in the areas of assessment, instruction, behavioral interventions and use of accommodations for students with disabilities. Additionally, the Tool Kit offers information about research now under way to further expand educators’ knowledge in this area.
The Tool Kit is being distributed to the state leadership so that they can share these materials with those in their states who have responsibility for improving teaching and assessment of all students. The Tool Kit is also accessible through the USDE Web site.
