Another good performance review for Texas teachers and students
Texas African-American fourth graders posted the sixth highest score in the nation on the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reading (see 2009 NAEP Reading below) test, while white fourth-graders in Texas had the 12th highest score, and Hispanic Texan 4th graders earned the 19th highest score.
Among 8th graders, white Texas students earned the 11th highest scores posted in the nation, while, African-American Texas students had the 18th highest score and Hispanic Texas students ranked 20th among the states and jurisdictions.
