Changing jobs or districts? Here are some helpful resources
The Texas Education Agency and the Texas Workforce Commission have joined forces to host a web portal that directly links interested job seekers to available teaching and education-related positions at www.WorkInTexas.com. Register on the web portal to gain access to a comprehensive, up-to-date listing of jobs throughout the state and for help in identifying jobs that match your qualifications and interests. Additionally, the TWC devotes a section on its website (www.twc.state.tx.us) to Teachers in Transition, with information for teachers or school employees who have been laid off, who are still interested in working in the education field, or who want to switch to a different career field.
TEA offers its own statewide school district job search tool (www.tea.state.tx.us/districtSearch.aspx) that allows you to search for district websites within a five to 50-mile radius of an address, city or zip code. The search brings up a list of districts that match the search criteria and provides links to websites and job listings, when available. Also helpful is TEA’s online information tool, TheBestTeachinTexas.com, which provides links to job resources and programs, along with information for prospective teachers on how to become a teacher, how to get certified and how to access grants and programs offering financial assistance.
