Tina Briley, a reading specialist at Greenwood Elementary in Greenwood ISD, is TCTA's 2012-13 Faculty Representative of the Year. TCTA annually presents its Faculty Representative of the Year Award to a TCTA member for excellence and outstanding service to members of the association and the TCTA local affiliate.

Although Briley now works in Greenwood ISD, Midland CTA nominated her for her efforts in 2011-12, when she was a faculty representative for the TCTA local affiliate in Midland ISD.

“Tina has shown outstanding commitment to TCTA for years,” the nomination stated. “She has attended TCTA state conventions four years in a row and is a serious student there, bringing back and implementing things she learns. She is a tremendous motivator and encourager for students and teachers alike. She never misses TCTA meetings. She comes faithfully, participating fully in discussions, articulates solid and creative ideas and is always first to volunteer for any needed service for TCTA.”

Briley has been a TCTA member since 1996, when she worked as a teacher’s aide for emotionally disturbed junior high students. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1998 and her master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in 2007. She has been teaching for 13 years.

TCTA honored Briley and other award winners Jan. 24, 2013, at an awards banquet during the TCTA Convention in Austin. Watch video of Briley accepting the award.
