TASB data shows teacher salaries recovering from 2011 budget cuts

According to the Salaries and Wages in Texas Public Schools Report released Jan. 22, 2014, by the Texas Association of School Boards and Texas Association of School Administrators, more than 90 percent of Texas teachers received a base salary increase for 2013–14.

The report states that teacher pay raises continue to lag behind 2000–01 to 2009–10 levels, when increases averaged nearly 4 percent per year. TASB data shows that the average Texas teacher salary saw a nearly 3 percent increase in 2013-14, and reports that the state average was $48,821 in 2012–13 and $50,166 in 2013-14. (TASB's data differs from the federal figures because it was collected via voluntary survey rather than a state report.)
