In June 2014, TEA posted a new state minimum salary schedule for the 2014-15 school year that includes an increase for each step, or year of experience credited.

The raises are due to a TCTA-drafted provision in state law that required the salary schedule to be adjusted when the basic allotment exceeded $5,000. The allotment will increase to $5,040 for 2014-15, triggering the increases.

Unfortunately, the increase in the minimum salary schedule will only directly affect teachers in the relatively few districts that still pay only the state-required minimum or that base their local salary schedules on the state minimum salary schedule (e.g., they pay $2,000 above the state minimum salary schedule step for an educator's years of creditable experience).
