TCTA has heard from some of our members about mistakes in their enrollment with ActiveCare through Aetna. Issues range from employees who thought they were enrolled in ActiveCare (had not waived coverage) but learned they were not, to employees whose dependent coverage was mistakenly continued even after the employees had declined it.

The Teacher Retirement System Board of Trustees discussed the problems with officials representing Aetna and its subcontractor, WellSystems, in a meeting Oct. 22, 2015, and expressed their strong disappointment about the scope of the issues and the adequacy of the response from Aetna/WellSystems.

Aetna has provided an apology letter, and has added information to its ActiveCare website for affected members. If you have experienced problems with your enrollment in ActiveCare this fall that have not yet been fully resolved, please contact Aetna Customer Service at 1-800-222-9205.
