TEA announced June 25, 2018, that the Texas Educator Certification Examination program will transition to a new testing vendor, NCS Pearson beginning Sept. 1, 2018. ETS is the current educator certification testing vendor. While the TExES, TExMaT, TASC and TASC-ASL tests will all transition to Pearson, ETS will administer the new Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL), which becomes effective in fall 2019.

Educators who wish to take a test or view their old score reports must create an account with Pearson. Account setup and registration with Pearson will open on Sept. 1 for test dates beginning Sept. 4, 2018. Pearson’s testing website is now available, with the full-content website available Sept. 1.

All test-related inquiries should continue to be directed to ETS through Aug. 31: www.texes.ets.org / ETS Customer Service 1-800-205-2626.

TEA provided a flier with preliminary information about the transition and said ongoing updates will be provided by both vendors and TEA in the coming weeks.

Key issues addressed in the flier include:

  • Registrations with ETS will continue through Aug. 29 for test dates through Aug. 31;
  • Score reports will continue to be available on the ETS website through Sept. 28;
  • Pending State Board for Educator Certification approval, test fees effective Sept. 1 will be $116 for most TExES exams, and $58 for individual Core Subjects exams (#801-809). The Texas.gov fee will continue to be assessed.

TCTA will continue to monitor and report on major developments as they occur.
