Status: Signed by governor
Author: Sen. Beverly Powell
Sponsor: Rep. Philip Cortez
Summary: Requires law enforcement, in providing the currently required notifications to districts regarding students who have been arrested, to note whether a threat assessment should be conducted or a safety plan prepared. The law enforcement agency must provide information to the superintendent that is requested for the purpose of a threat assessment or development of a safety plan; however, this information cannot be used by the superintendent in determining whether there is a reasonable belief that a student has engaged in a felony. Gives access to law enforcement records to a superintendent for purposes of a threat assessment or preparation of a safety plan.
