Attention in the House and Senate will now turn to the other chamber’s bills. For all practical purposes (although Senate deadlines are not as firm as those in the House) a bill that has not passed the first chamber by now is dead unless it can be attached to other legislation.

Next week’s action includes a Monday hearing in the Senate State Affairs Committee on the TRS-Care reform legislation, HB 3976. Since it is not yet known how budget negotiations are going and how much money will eventually be provided for the TRS-Care fix, updated details on how retirees will be affected by this legislation are not available.
