Monday morning, the House Appropriations Committee will hear several bills to move certain excess funding that would otherwise go into the Rainy Day Fund into school funding or TRS.

The House Public Education Committee has scheduled a Tuesday hearing. Bills on the agenda include a $4,000 pass-through teacher pay raise (HB 255 by Rep. Reynolds), a bonus for teachers completing autism training (HB 340 by Rep. Nevarez), and creation of a "teacher performance contract" that would provide additional funding to districts using such contracts to increase salaries for teachers demonstrating various levels of student performance, via an evaluation system that includes observations, test results, and student surveys (HB 354 by Rep. Villalba).
