In the final week of this session (which ends Monday, May 27), lawmakers will consider scores of bills in a last-minute attempt to get proposals passed before key deadlines. The House, for example, will not discuss any Senate bills on the regular calendar after Tuesday. Major bills such as the budget and school finance reform are in conference committee negotiations, which can go down nearly to the wire – the last day for the House to adopt conference committee reports is Sunday, May 26. (The budget talks seem to be going smoothly, with most of the non-education-related budget items agreed-upon earlier this week.)

Both House and Senate are expected to meet during the weekend. Calendars have not yet been finalized for the upcoming days.
