*The 1.5 percent school district contribution is made only for employees for whom the district is not contributing to Social Security, and only for compensation up to the amount of the minimum salary schedule. Districts also contribute at the state rate (6.8%) on salary paid above the state required minimum salary.

Employees contribute 0.65 percent of salary to the TRS-Care fund (retiree health insurance). The state contributes 1.25 percent of payroll (per a 2017 bill increasing the rate from 1 percent), and school districts contribute 0.75 percent (per the 2017 legislation, an increase from 0.55 percent).
